Personalized management for healthy cholesterol levels.

St. Luke’s Lipid Program is designed for patients who have an improper balance of lipids, suffer from statin intolerance, severe hypertriglyceridemia, disorders of HDL cholesterol and lipid disorders associated with kidney and/or liver disease. Our program also diagnoses and treats genetic disorders including familial hypercholesterolemia, familial combined hyperlipidemia, familial hypertriglyceridemia or high lipoprotein(a).

What is a lipid?

Lipids are fatty, waxy, or oily compounds essential to many bodily functions. Part of your cell membranes, they help control what enters and leaves your cells. They help regulate hormones, transmit nerve impulses, absorb vitamins, cushion organs, and move and store energy in body fat. Lipids include cholesterol and triglycerides. Your blood carries lipids throughout your body. However, having excessive amounts of lipids is harmful. A lipid panel can tell you if you have normal levels.
